Internet Access

The Shannon Municipal Library is a Community Access Partner (CAP) site with support from the Government of Canada.

The library has four public computers, with one of these equipped for persons with disabilities.  This special computer has ZoomText software and a large print keyboard.

  • Printing is available at a cost of $.25

Wireless Internet Access

Wireless Internet is available in the library at no cost.  A username and password is available from the front desk and is good for up to 2 hours.

Equipment rentals

A laptop computer, an Epson PowerLite multimedia projector and a portable screen are available for rent from the library.  Contact library staff for further details.  A deposit will be required.

EBook reader

A Sony ebook reader is available for loan for a three week period.  Please contact staff for details and assistance in accessing ebooks through our Overdrive service.

DAISY readers

There are two of these handheld audiobook players available for loan to persons with disabilities that do not allow them to enjoy regular print.  Library staff is pleased to arrange loans of DAISY books through the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) at no charge.  Please be aware that CNIB Daisy books are only available to persons with certified print disabilities.  The DAISY readers themselves may be borrowed for short term disabilities, and the library's collection of mainstream audio books are compatible.

Photocopying

Currently the library has a basic photocopier available.  Color copying will be available shortly

  • Black and white copies are $.25 
  • Color copies are $.50

Fax Services

The library has a fax machine that may be used for both incoming and outgoing faxes

First page:

  • $1.00 Local
  • $1.50 Provincial
  • $2.00 National
  • Each page thereafter is $.25

Laminating

Capable of doing up to  8 1/2" x 11"  (standard letter size)

  • $1.00 per page

Exam Invigilation

Library staff can invigilate exams for distance education students.  An invigilation fee may be charged.  Please book your exam with senior library staff to ensure correct procedures are followed. Libraries and librarians are often the recommended invigilators for many distance education courses.
