The Shannon Library has thousands of items including fiction and non-fiction titles for all ages, audio books, DVDs, large print books, music CDs, and magazines to borrow and enjoy.
Our community's membership in Peace Library System offers access not only to immediate regional services with the The Regional Automation Consortium (TRAC), but is also a window into metropolitan, provincial and academic libraries by virtue of inclusion in The Alberta Library (TAL), effectively easing access to millions of items available across the province, simply by using a TRAC Borrower's Card.
Library staff are always interested in hearing any suggestions for additional services. Drop in to see us soon.
The library offers free membership cards to residents of the Sexsmith area. This same Borrower's Card will also grant you access to multiple licensed databases, free online Lynda.com courses, and Pronunciator language learning software.
Local Use Card
Sometimes, due to unusual circumstances or transient status, Library staff may not be able to issue a card with full TRAC/TAL privileges. At times like this, a Local Use only card may be issued. Special limits apply to this card.

Damaged items and lost items are billed at their replacement cost.
Borrowing privileges will be suspended when fines or other penalties reach $10.
Late fines can be avoided by returning or renewing items by their due date. You can renew books in person, by phone at (780) 568-4333, or online by logging in to your account at TRACpac.
Most items may be renewed twice, unless other patrons have holds on the item.
Can't find what you're looking for on the shelves? You can place a hold in person, by phone, or online by logging in to your account at TRACpac.
You may place up to 25 holds at a time. Items are held for 5 days; please call the library to extend the pick-up period.
Please suspend your holds if you will be away for an extended period of time or cancel holds that are no longer desired. You can do so in person, by phone, or online by logging in to your account at TRACpac.
For your protection, contact the library immediately to report a lost or stolen card so we can stop others from using it. You are responsible for anything borrowed until it is reported. A replacement card fee of $2.00 may be charged.
